Rachel Keller is a fictionalized character in The Ring movie series. The character created by Rachel Keller was developed by Ehren Kruger. Naomi Watts plays the character. Rachel is required to look into the past of Samara Morgan after her son suffers from a mysterious illness. Ruth asks Rachel Keller, an investigative journalist to find out the truth behind Katie's death. Rachel is informed by her sister Ruth that she discovered Katie's deformed body inside the closet. She also revealed that Katie passed away from an attack on her heart. Katie's friends tell Rachel about the myth of the cursed tape and how Becca Katie's friend was institutionalized after witnessing Katie's death. Katie's boyfriend and two of her best acquaintances, also passed away in bizarre accidents that took place in the same evening at 10:30 PM. Rachel journeys to Shelter Mountain Inn, where she is in Cabin 12. The cabin in question is one in which Katie and her friends stayed in when they saw the tape that was cursed. Rachel finds the tape and when it's finished, the phone starts to ring. Rachel hears a voice utter "seven days". Rachel is seeking help from her ex-boyfriend Noah Clay, a video analyst. Rachel finds out later that Aidan (her son with Noah) watched the tape and told her that he believed in her. Rachel investigates the tape in order to determine the whereabouts of the lighthouse. It was on Moesko Island. Anna Morgan was a horse breeder cursed, appeared on the tape. Rachel finds out that Anna had an adopted daughter, Samara. She was capable of creating terrifying images in the minds humans, animals and other objects. Rachel meets Anna's widower Richard. Richard insists that Rachel go away as when she starts asking questions regarding Samara.
