In May 2012, Garena introduced the Garena Premier League (GPL) for six months. It is an online professional gaming league with over 100 matches scheduled to be played. The first season of GPL will be the League of Legends competition which has six teams of professional players. They represent the best players of different countries. GPL matches are captured and broadcast live online, along with commentary, and are made available to the public to view on the GPL official website. In January 2013, Garena revealed the second season of the Garena Premier League, which would start on 4 January 2013. Garena Premier League 2013 includes two new teams from Taiwan and Vietnam which brings the total number of teams to eight. These teams include AHQ, Saigon Fantastic Five, Bangkok Titans, Kuala Lumpur Hunters, Manila Eagles, Saigon Jokers, Taipei Assassins and Singapore Sentinels. Garena's eSports stadium that is exclusively dedicated to esports at the Neihu District Taipei, opened its doors on November 14, 2014. The stadium was initially constructed to house an event called the League of Legends Masters Series which is the most prestigious LoL Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau league that was a spin-off of GPL. Garena started her Iron Solari League in January 2015. The Iron Solari League is an League of Legends women's tournament that is held within the Philippines. The event takes place in the second week of every month. It's goal is to boost participation of groups with low representation and is open for all individuals who self-identify as being female. In addition to tournaments that are competitive, Garena also organizes events for users to get together and make connections offline. Garena holds the Garena Festival in Singapore, Malaysia and other countries.
